Nothing makes us happier here at DPI than beautiful, completed projects AND delighted clients and THIS project is no exception. The kitchen is the heart of the home so we know how important it is that your kitchen not only be super gorgeous but also functional and lasting. So, sit back, relax and let me regale you with the tale of this Palmetto Bay kitchen project...
MIAMI KITCHEN REMODEL BEFORE
In the above pic, you can see the original kitchen. The dated cabinetry, island, (peninsula really) appliances, layout and color scheme were all major pain points for the clients. But no worries - we had the perfect prescription...
DEMOLISH ALL THE THINGS!
BUT FIRST, THE MOOD AND STUFF
The homeowners told us that they wanted to keep their existing Saltillo flooring - plus it wasn't in the budget to replace. So, we knew that we could not just ignore the flooring or forget it. We needed to be one with the Saltillo. Embrace it. Kiss it squarely on its little clay lips. You get the point.
PAINT COLORS AND DIRECTION
We actually ended up going with Benjamin Moore's Newburg Green for the island color which definitely leans bluer than green IRL.
Our design incorporated custom floating shelving and classic hardware choices. For the backsplash, we chose Archivo Bakula, from Somertile - a ceramic tile that tied in beautifully with the saltillo floor and the Newberg Green island.

Oh, did you think that was it for the backsplash? Noooooooo. We also paired this lovely tile, Urban Brick Seton Sage (below pic), for a focal accent under the custom hood in a classic herringbone pattern.

OK, NOW WE CAN DEMOLISH ALL THE THINGS!!!
Take a look at that before pic again. I'll wait.
Ok. See those soffits? They were severely cramping this kitchen's mojo. So guess what? Buh-bye! All the cabinetry too. Alas, we hardly knew you (good riddance).

Next, start installing the cabinets.

And, while we wait on the uppers to finish being built, what about that floor? It had been a hot minute since this Saltillo floor had been sanded and resealed - a necessary evil to properly maintain these buggers. (HERE is a previous post I wrote about my saltillo floor removal).

THE QUARTZ COUNTERS
