Being an interior designer in Miami is like dying and going to heaven – without the dying part. With Miami’s art scene (Wynwood in particular) the Miami Design District, DCOTA (Design Center of the Americas) and tons of local shops and hidden gems, we are never a loss for design inspiration and just flat out giddy shopping sprees.

This post is one in a series of my Miami Design Spotlight and this week we are focusing on ….wait for it….

URBAN LOFT

Urban Loft is a home decor and furnishings store located in a little warehouse-esque, mostly design based outdoor mall in Miami. Located at 4664 SW 72nd Avenue, its vast showroom is nestled amongst, antique stores, flower shops and various and sundry other design-based resource businesses. You won’t ever want to leave.

Founded in June 2010 by husband and wife team Armando and Vivian Batule, Urban Loft is a gorgeous mix of timeless furniture, art, and décor.

The owners, Armando and Vivian Batule with Jeff Lewis of Flipping Out

“Staying away from being too trendy is important to us,” says Vivian. “We like to keep things classic, yet modern and current. Good design can last ten years so we want our customers to have access to furnishings they will enjoy and love for a while.”

And THIS is exactly why I am so smitten. If you have read my previous blog posts, or if you are a client of DPI, then you know how much I harp (nag?) on the dangers of being too trendy.

IS YOUR HOME TOO TRENDY?

I adore lasting pieces that won’t date themselves readily. It’s one of the things that sets Urban Loft apart from the run of the mill, basic, high turnover décor stores.

“Quality, design, price point." Vivian continues, “If I don’t love it, I don’t buy it.”

And it shows. I love it too. ALLLLLLLLLLL of it.

These Mirrors at Urban Loft are so Delicious!

Urban Loft is also packed. There is no sparse, minimalist catalog ordering here. Your head might explode from the sheer amount of choices on display (please bring your own plastic sheeting). With items readily in stock, you will find that most selections are available for delivery on the very same day. Instant gratification much? Hell to the yes.

Need Some Artwork? I Happen to Know a Place.

"Our goal is to keep the store fresh and customers surprised with new merchandise and displays," adds Vivian. "We aim for a pleasant shopping experience from visuals to fragrance to music. Presentation is everything!"

Ahhhh. A woman after my own heart.

So, if you live in Miami or even if just visiting, take a drive down to Urban Loft and tell Armando and Vivian hello from Darla. If you need help shopping at Urban Loft to pick out what would go best in your home, well then, I have just the design firm for you! Give us a holler and we will hook you up (Pssssst, I know the owners).
